First Application Period for 2009/10 School Year

The Student Assignment First Application period (Batch 1) for the 2009/10 school year is scheduled for Monday, January 26 through Friday, March 13, 2009.  The First Application Period is mandatory for current students of Lee County Public Schools attending Pre-K, 5th or 8th grades as well as new students to the District. Students currently enrolled in a school may participate if they want to change school next year.

On Friday, January 19th, pre-printed applications will be sent to parents of Pre-K students attending Lee County Public Schools who are eligible for kindergarten for 2009/10, as well as current fifth- and eighth-grade students who currently attend a Lee County Public School (that’s more than 12,000 applications!) Rather than standing in long lines, families can save time and are strongly encouraged to apply online via the Districts’ Web site (http://Studentassignment.leeschools.net). New students can not apply online. Only students currently attending Lee County Public Schools can use the online option.

Parents of children who will be age five on or before September 1st 2009 should apply for kindergarten for the 2009/10 school year between January 26 and March 13 as well. Parents need to register their child even if they have an older child already in school – there are NO automatic assignments. Please be aware that for 09-10 school year every incoming kindergartener and first grader need to have two Varicella Immunizations. This is a new requirement for next school year for kindergarten students. Seats are assigned based on a lottery, not a first come first serve basis. The Student Assignment offices are open 9 a.m.-4 p.m. at the following locations:

    • Batch 1: January 26 - March 13, 2009
(Batch 1 student assignment notices will be mailed to parents on Friday, April 3, 2009).

(Batch 2 student assignment notices will be mailed to parents on Monday June 22 , 2009)
